Socratoad says: How very "Christian" of them. Ya right, just because someone says something doesn't mean its worth a hill of beans... And for every other person who isnt a Christian and makes comments against Obama I dont see the news stating they are athiest or whatever.. Why only point out Christians? Because its prejudice... Perhaps you do not get the point. It was not me who claimed they were Christians. They were identified as Christian missionaries in the news article. If you took the time to read what I had written you just might have noticed that I wrote "Christian" like that .... meaning they are self-proclaimed Christians. Which is quite different from actually being a Christian. Maybe you just might consider enrolling in a course pertaining to reading comprehension Gawd Toad, Practically every other person in WV thinks Obama is a Muslim and his wife is an atheist! My husband went to the pain clinic and there were a room full of ppl in the waiting room and a really nice lady wanted to talk to me about this and that so we passed the time conversing and this subject came up and I said "Do you realize the bad press everyone is getting in WV over our racial attitudes?" Of course everyone in the room said NO and no one even reads the NY times besides me I suppose. So I told them about ppl in WV thinking these thoughts and everyone practically screamed that Obama was a Muslim! I told them to please google Obama to no avail. So all I can think is that ppl here must watch FOX NEWS 24/7. Kinda depressing ain't it Meaning they are self-proclaimed Christians. Which is quite different from actually being a ChristianThat is so true. If I could only get across to ppl what being a Christian means to me which is the participation in God's passion for the kingdom of God. It's about emphasizing compassion, justice, and peace. It's about speaking out against empire. It's about the wrongness and futility of violence in human affairs. It's not about the historical Jesus being a divine being unlike us, not about a judge at the second coming or a rigorous personal morality. It's not about the literal-factual meanings of language about Jesus which tends to be commonly selective in what it empha... He said it's about "loving God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and your neighbor as yourself." "What does the Lord require of you?" is a question asked as the Hebrew Scriptures draw to a close. The answer? "To do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Jesus and his followers will have a fight with wealth and power, and with religious hypocrisy, but if they're out there blasting away at others they've surely missed the point. Amazing how people will lie to justify their prejudices and dislikes. |
