I beg to differ: the only Truth I truly know is my own truth. My opinion can be influenced. It can be revised based on new or differing information. Truth simply IS. For many people in the US, the "truth" is that the planet is only 6000 years old and humans walked with dinosaurs. The fact that this is directly contradicted by observable physical evidence doesn't seem to matter to them. But they don't say "it's my opinion that the world is 6000 years old", they say "it's THE TRUTH!" As Philip K. Dick said, "Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." What is truth is not the criterion but how does one apply acquired knowledge to a given situation to get the most possible good and the least harmful to humans ... Not only for ''americans'' ... for instance an albanian woman operated in slums of Culcutta, India NOT for any particular country but for the most and least ... does that make sense? It would, if one thinks to know what is self-conscience and how it analyses and how does a humane mind guides it for well being of all and not a particular. |
