This is very interesting - and significant in my opinion. Could you imagine if many of the people who hoarded onto twitter to give it a peak actually find it boring and don't end up using it much. Wouldn't shock me.

Maybe people just don't need to know exactly when and how many donuts you just saw the local TV celebrity buy. I don't Tweet or book my face because I find them absolutely filled with inane minutia of peoples lives.

I livejournal because I'm much more interested in what people are thinking than what they're doing.

I have personally found that Twitter can be useful for marketing and communicating with people of like interests and endeavours. However, you have a lot of chaff to get through before you hit the wheat.

How twitter ever got popular is beyond me. I don't need to know how hot that guy was who just passed you or how big of a douche bag what ever celebrity is full of them selves enough to tweet 20 times a day is.

Twitter gets a lot of new users, because it somehow became a buzz word. People leave because it is technically inferior to many other sites. I know that the real reason for the length of the microblog is the limitation of SMS. Most users don't care why. They just care that it doesn't do as much as a "real" blogging site. It also has a very weak reply system.
