It is undeniable that Brazil is a progressing nation. I feel, however, that it's progress can better be attributed to a vibrant (if at times disorganized and unregulated) private sector. I found it interesting to note that the report shows the decline in the income of the rich as a good thing--corresponding to an increase in the income of the poor. In truth, the big winner is the government, which increased it's taxes on the rich, and--through government jobs and handouts--increased the dependence of the poor. |
