This is so true. A question i have is, why don't more people who defend this war volunteer to fight in it? I'm mean that literally. Not accusing anyone of anything. But i'd really like to know. I defend the mission of fighting crime and keeping the peace that certain wonderful individuals volunteer for by becoming a Cop, a mission that they can die carrying out, but I am not a Cop. Do you support the Police mission (a mission that can lead to death for our Volunteer Cops) to fight crime and keep the peace? Are you a Cop? First of all, I don't think too many people "volunteer" to become cops because of their desire to make the world a better place. I think they do it because it is a job that pays them, provides health insurance, a pension, etc. That said, i understand your point. I guess i just don't see them being analogous. I'm talking about the extremely loud, demanding attitude of people who claim that this war is necessary to defend our country, way of life, planet, etc. The people who criticize the patriotism of those who disagree with it. There is a deeper level of commitment and certainly a greater sense of urgency regarding the war than there is regarding any immediate need for more cops. And... Why would they require a draft when the military is still meeting all it's recruiting goals? Now what I might require is an increase in those goals in order to grow the military faster. But I don't think we are anywhere close to needing a draft and I think talk of a draft is nothing but political posturing by those opposed to the war. consider the source.
