Sarah Vaughan was an exceptional singer known by the nicknames”Sassy” and the “Divine One. Vaughan was repeatedly voted the top female vocalist by Down Beat and Metronome jazz magazines between 1947 and 1952. In 1982 her album Gershwin Live! won a Grammy Award. Vaughan received the distinguish Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award one year prior to her passing in 1989 and was inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame in 1990.

Sarah Vaughan is one of the musicians featured in a series of portrait art prints by the artist Frederick Brown. The Sarah Vaughan portrait he painted is striking and would make a great addition to a collector of Sarah Vaughan memorabilia
