am thinkin' folx have a larger laundry list of hate issues when it comes to this regime....lol...i might be wrong Certainly true that Bush hatred is convenient way to get a glow from being part of the party, and also true that for many it is the end of the story so there is no need to think or examine the whole picture as far as possible. Me thinks its a way to hide from this President egregious misconduct, wars of choice and poor leadership. "They" simply don't "like him". Nothing irrational about people not liking the man, if you kept your eyes and ears open for the last 7 years or so. I saw this yesterday; good clip. It's one thing to 'hate' someone (I guess), but it appears to be almost maniacal. They seem/sound so unhinged. But soon, it will be over and they came blame President Bush for every bad thing that happens *hereafter*. Weren't we saying the same thing during Clinton years? I have to admit that I don't completely agree with the author. You see, he says that tolerance, generosity, and reasoned skepticism are traits of a true liberal, but I don't think that is true today at all. He believes this seething hatred of Bush is betrayal of liberalism, but I see it as defining liberalism today. Any reasoning is thrown out the window and emotion controls liberals of today. His view of liberalism may have been true in the past, but today's liberal is nothing like that at all. "...emotion controls liberals of today..." Hmmm. Same can be said for conservatives. Anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, pro-guns. These are all emotional stances taken by the "right," and elected officials are human. They can't function with their personal biases playing part of the hand. Yes, Hawkeye. Let's just call it all 'the insanity of hatred'. |
