Others advise settling on a core set of keywords that can be used long into the future.
"reverse-thinking" helps when tagging pages -- think of the tags others might later look for
Just substitute "Clipmarks" for "del.icio.us" to see why this stuff is important.

Excellent! That what I think too. I've written about it here: http://3spots.blogspot.com/2006/01/social-bookmarks-import-and-tagging.html

This is good info. I try to use tags as categories of decription of the page or material being discussed.

finally... we will eventually be glad if people will generate tags on their pages of content and put it into the "keywords" metadata of the pages. that is so damn retro... wohhooo. it's so oldschool, that it's brand new 2.0 Tagging is one of last years best things, but there are a lot of unsolved problems. Spam (which will come), organizing, displaying and convention... We can optimize a lot.

He means tagging all webpages so that search engine can index them using those tags. This is actually around since the creation of the web in the early 1990s
