AtlLiberal says: Although I, for one, think the Dems haven't found their backbone yet, I'm still grateful that we don't have to deal with McCain in the White House. How these Republicans can, with a straight face, decry spending in the stimulus bill when in fact that's exactly what the point is for the stimulus bill are fooling no one but themselves. They are the last gasp of a failed economic policy that has brought the country to the brink of financial collapse. 538.com points out that the use of the word "pork" has multiplied rapidly in the last couple of weeks. Interestingly enough, the bill itself hasn't changed much. It's merely the GOP doing what they do best: scaring America. I seriously wonder about John M. Maybe he's on too many prescription drugs. I am not surprised at his stance on this economic recovery thing, though. He's always had the same economic philosophy, the 'trickle down (on?) theory- standard Republican stuff. Also, during the campaign, you remember that he felt the economy was peachy, as it probably is for him and his friends. Remember that banker buddy of Bush II's in New York when he said "Never have so few profited so much at the expense of so many."? We've suffered through 8 years of a steadily shrinking economy with the rapid erosion of the working class and the middle class. But as long as Wall St was doing well everyone was happy and saw no need for action. The cry was pull yourselves up by your own bootstraps. The problem was the recipients of this advise were barefoot. |
