kris_tea says: This is a great article. I recommend you reading the whole thing. It was originally published in Christianity Today (http://www.christianitytoday.com/) magazine & was reposted on CBN.com with CT's permission. We are truly in a new golden age for apologetics. Unfortunately, many Christians are not even aware. R.C. Sproul, John Piper, Norman Geilsler, John Stackhouse, Chesterton, Gary Habermas, Greg Koukle, Alvin Plantinga, Francis Schaeffer...to name only a few. "The biggest shock is that among people who communicated to me that they had found faith in Christ through apologetics, the single biggest group was 16- to 24-year-olds."Interesting. Thanks for the clip, Kris. Willhelm, I must admit that the only name that I know from your list is John Piper &, personally, I really have a problem with a lot of what he preaches. I am very young in apologetics so there are very few I know yet. John Piper is without a doubt one of the most biblical and wise men of God in the world today. Here is a good place to start if your new into emerging yourself deeply into Christian doctrine and apologetics. And here. LOL, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, Willhelm. I'll check those sites out, Willhelm. Thank for the recommendations. I have been watching a lot of James White's apologetic videos on YouTube (http://www.aomin.org/) I guess we'll just have to agree to disagreeThat's OK. What bugs me is not knowing where we disagree. By the way, on the qiock peak I took of the video you linked and some others, I see no difference between James White and John Piper. James White is a Calivinist, is he not? I've never heard of him before. According to this page Mr White looks like a deeply committed Reformed theologian. Now I am really confused about where we disagree. Willhelm, yes he is Calvinist & I guess I am too, on most points. But, the only things I've ever read by Piper or seen him preach on had to do with retirement & such & I disagreed with just about everything he said. My sister has read much more by him & says that I probably would like the rest of his teachings. I guess the real problem I have with him has little to do with him & mainly to do with the church I was going to at the time. I use to go to church where I heard more about "what Piper said" than what Jesus said or what the Bible said & it just turned me off. I guess that is quite unfair on my part. I guess I'll have to listen/read more of his stuff. The link I provided above ( "And here..") is John Piper's blog called Desiring God. You should check it out when you have time. Thanks Willhelm, I will. |
