Rice has been there for Bush every step of the way. she refused for as long as possible to testify before the 9/11 Commission, then served the commissioners at least fifteen serious lies--indeed, almost nothing but lies, distortions, evasions, and selective amneezzia. To come clean would have meant confessing that Bush and Cheney and especially the National Security adviers (ie., she) downplayed terrorism from their first days in office and ignored warning after increasingly urgent warning during the summer of 2001.
