Oh, no, no. Humans are mammals. Mammals are animals. Breastfeeding would entail using (*gasp*) milk from a helpless, clueless female animal. That's against the vegan code.

Yea I don't get the whole vegan thing. Man has been eating meat since the dawn of time. I could see them being against sport killing but they take it a little too far.

BNM, I was being a bit sarcastic there. For all I know, vegans are OK with breastfeeding. However, in this case, the extreme stance seemed appropo.

For the record, many vegans are great supporters of breastfeeding.

Like it has already been said, this case has nothing to do with veganism and everything to do with ignorant and negligent parents.
