If I could say one thing to anyone reading this, it is that smoking causes cancer. Take it from me, cancer is a terrible disease. If you do one thing for yourself and for the people who love you try to break the addictive power that nicotine has over you today. You will breathe better, you will smell better, and your quality of life will be so much better. And your risk of cancer will go down with less exposure.

debbyski-Your comment is correct. - But....... smoking is still my greatest nemesis and adversary even with all my awareness I realize and understand in regards to what it is doing and has done to my health. My Dr. prescribed a medication called Chantix for me that I am considering taking.

I know two people with these electronic cigarettes. The vapor that you blow out is kind of creepy. The whole thing is kind of creepy.

Ofcapri,

I am with Antara on this one. You can do this. I have heard that Chantix is really good. I believe in your strength to do this even if you don't believe it yourself.

debbyski-Thanks for the encouragement. I have set my 66 B-day (30 June) as my cut off date. I will give it my best shot.
Antara-Thank you too. I hope to become a member of your non-smoking club too. Wow 7 years - That is wonderful.
bignosemousie-I just might try those creepy electronic cigarettes, I don't know. Thanks

I took the Canadian version Champrix I could only afford the first 2 weeks of the prescription. But I have not had a cigarette since the 27th of February. I was smoking up to a pack a day when I quit. If I can do it so can you ofcapri.

Ofcapri, My father quit cold turkey (first try) just over 3 years ago. He had smoked for many many years. Lots of people have to quit more than once for it to stick, though. Either way, hang in there. You can do it! Wanting to quit is really half the battle. (even if that sounds like a platitude.)
