boozich says: my wife's cousin has 2 children who have not yet had their birthdays celebrated with their witness grandparents! personally...i think that's very lame I had no idea that Witnesses did not vote! Far be it for me to tell other's how to live their lives, but I feel it is sad that Christ's message seems to have been lost. agreed! so sad that these kids miss out on birthdays, christmas, and all the great perades like normal kids. Shame on them for robbing thier kids of thier childhood! Those kids are made to go out "witnessing" from the time they walk! Jehovahs Witnesses and *freedom of speech*. They will extol and preach *God's Kingdom* and this sounds attractive, what they hide from you is their Watchtower society version that Jesus has already had his second coming in 1914 and is working *invisibly* through them. They have won 37 of their 46 Supreme court cases assuring us all of freedom of speech and assembly and equal protection under the law. The sad irony is that the Watchtower Society *daily* abuses the human rights of thousands of its members. It denies current members the right of free speech by forbidding them to speak to former members, even close family members. And it denies former members their right of freedom of ... you should do some research before you judge Jehovah's Witnesses religious beliefs. For the record i think its an insult to vote over God just my opinion i did some research....my wife's side are all f@&$ing JW and i think they are LAME...wanna know anything else? If you researched well, you'd find out that J.W' children don't have to celebrate "traditional" holidays to be happy. How sad for you to rely on such things as the calendar dictating when you can show your love. crewe, don't tell me you joined just to say that!!!! I'm honored...feel free to cast your shackles and share more pearls....and I have the BIGGEST calendar full of minor celebrations too. I have done extensive research and though the Jehovah Witnesses not celebrating many of the pagan holidays or the holy ones is not a bad thing, they have twisted and mis constued the message and the words of the bible. For instance the bible says that all thoughwe are not of this world (Christians) we are to follow the rules and laws set forth by governing rulers as long as it does not go against GOD and the bible. Sadly there is no biblical basis for not voting. Also the watch tower society decided to print their own bible when some of the founding members didn't agree with what was written in the standard bible. Also the person who posted about them believing that Jesus has already had his... First of all, the various Christian bibles (including the Protestant version) contain vague, conflicting texts that are open to interpretation. To interpret John 17:14 and other scriptures as the proscription of voting is just as valid as any other interpretation, since none of them can be proved. However, it is a fact that the prohibition on voting for Jehovah's Witnesses was lifted in 1999. According to the Watchtower of November 1, 1999, pages 28-29, whether or not a Jehovah's Witness chooses to vote in a political election is a personal decision and a matter of conscience. That not all Jehovah's Witnesses (or their critics) may not be aware of this is irrelevant. |
