Fair skin sells all over Asia......I remember seeing the aisles full of whitening products for skin when i was in China and Thailand.

I had women running up to me and touching my hands, marvelling at what an Irish Whitey I am , lol.

I understand that advertising is all about sales and money, but I think it's sad that people equate "white"/"light" with right and anything else is lesser. I don't think I've ever felt that way. I'm just glad that I had a mother who instilled in me the concept of self-love.

I could be a rock star in India.

Strangely I am more attracted to a womans eyes than her skin. But don't get me wrong. The legs are the best- they lead places I love to go.

Unfortunate but true....this fair skin fixation must be a leftover of the British rule in India.
I am very happy with my colour...

Very true. My aunts and mum avoid the sun for fear of getting darker. They also spend a fortune on whitening/bleaching stuff. And here I am, enjoying my year-round tan.

I don't wash, so I alternate between a yellowy grey and brown.

Ordinarily though, I am a lovely and pale, my family being from northern Europe.

Funny that here we tan, and in Asia and India, they bleach.

Whatever we are, it seems we'll always want to be different.

people should not avoid the sun as it is the major source of vitamin d. vitamin d is very anti-cancer, anti- ms and many other diseases. it is required to absorb calcium into your bones and contributes to a healthy immune system and the production of insulin which prevents diabetes. black people in the u.s. have higher rates of cancer than whites because their skin filters out the sun. people in the northern u.s. have higher rates of cancer than the south because they are not out in the sun as much.

So true Skiff.
I'm not really attracted to dark skinned ppl though. I really and truly am more attracted to thin blond people but with a different eye color than blue (which is mine) I find "pretty" men extremely attractive (my husband does not fit this bill, he is a big mainly looking man, so go figure) and I like feminine looking women. But outward appearances are so fleeting; I really like what's on the inside. That's why I like Rashid so much and I miss him dearly. I hope he is ok
