It is amazing to me how all of these services are more balanced than what I see and hear on American media reports.

I remember for example, when the Iraq war first started, ALL of the USA cable news channels were treating it like a damn football game, with all kinds of patriotic animations, and rah rah talk etc. The BBC, which originates in a country that was also actively involved in the invasion, treated the entire event like a true news story, and gave a very balanced and professional picture of what was going on. They did not behave like the government cheerleaders as the U.S. networks did.

That is just one example of the way the news media in the United States has essentially become part of the show-biz establishment more than the news outlets they are supposed to be.
