A pretty sad story about a family who protests soldier's funerals to spread their message that American troops are dying in Iraq because the U.S. tolerates homosexuality.

yeah, the story itself was interesting, as was the reporter's perplexity at the apparent incongruity between this one stance and the rest of their lives.
Even if you believe homosexuality is displeasing/dishonoring to God, it doesn't make much sense that God would choose to communicate his disdain by allowing US soldiers to die in Iraq, especially when we as Americans do so many other things that fly in the face of God's nature, like murder and racism and greed, etc.
Interestingly, there may actually be a link between homosexuality and US deaths in NYC, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., IF it's one of the perceived vulgarities of American lifestyle to which more hardline Muslim militants are reacting...

Why doesn't anyone picket those funerals with another kind of message like "he had it coming!" ?

It's interesting that the initial iteration, propagated by Sean Hannity, of this story was that the picketing was done by anti-war activists.

Reminds me of the myth that still persists regarding spitting on returning Vietnam Vets, which was blamed on the anti-war activists, but two studies found no evidence for this. In fact the only verifiable reporting found is that pro-war folks were spitting on anti-war protesters and vets with peace symbols on their uniforms.
