The John Adams Project is a joint effort by the ACLU and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers to locate, stalk, and photograph covert CIA agents and to show those photographs to terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

The Justice Department is investigating the John Adams Project. It is a violation of federal law to identify covert CIA agents. An ACLU spokesperson justified the outing of covert CIA agents by claiming that they had been involved in the "torture" of Guantanamo terrorist detainees that ACLU lawyers are representing.

The John Adams Project was featured on Tuesday night's O'Reilly Factor when an O'Reilly producer chased down one of the three lawyers involved in the John Adams Project and demanded answers about an operation that would seem, on the face of it, place the lives of covert CIA operatives at jeopardy. The lawyer in question was very defiant and angry at being questioned by a Fox News producer with the camera rolling.

The John Adams Project demonstrates, if nothing else, the arrogance of some lawyers who will stop at nothing to try to gain an advantage for their clients, even to the point of exposing members of the CIA to the threat of bodily harm or death. It bespeaks a kind of attitude in which the lives of those who protect our freedom are disposable before the altar or winning a case.

The John Adams Project is not the first operation designed to blow the covers of CIA covert operatives. Counterspy Magazine, founded by former CIA agent Philip Agee, outed a number of CIA covert agents in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The exposure of Richard Welch, the CIA's station chief in Greece, in 1975 was blamed...

We should support the Attorney General's attempt to cause the John Adams Project to "out" undercover CIA agents to cease. Getting innocent American agents killed is not going help Gitmo detainees seek justice. This activity is lethal, and not part of prudent policy on the part of the ACLU. This unnecessarily costs them support. I must assume that the error is due to elitist arrogance on the part of the ACLU core decision makers... sacrificing American lives for political gain. That's an error that they ascribe to their political enemies on the right.

The majority of the USA believes the war on terror is not a police matter, to be resolved in court, but a war wherein America sustained mass i...

Thank you CapnRick for your excellent comment, it's good to know that there are still people who understand
that the government's primary responsibility is to defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Actually
the ACLU and 'John Adams Project' could be charged and tried for treason.
