Just like the majority of his republican collegues, McCain just doesn't get it (though in all fairness, too many Dems also jump on this particular wagon). BTW, I'm still waiting for anyone to explain how this will "ruin" marriage. Any takers?

Well Alt!
As you know, there are the same three old tired arguments: the Bible's against it; marriage has always been between a man and a woman, and allowing gays to get hitched will irrevocably destroy the institution of marriage . . . and therefore the nation, the world, the planet, the solar system, and the whole damned universe!

No, no, and no. But lets see if anyone on the other side of the argument would like to provide us with some compelling rational thought on why same sex marriage is a moral issue. I'm eagerly awaiting that.

Whew! Thank you Alt!!! I was about ready for ICU!!!! Now, I'm getting a nice fresh color of pink again Seriously though, where is the other side of thought on this issue? Wanna make a wager no one has the balls to debate us?

It's telling that not once have I heard anything but unsubstantiated assertions concerning how marriage will be damaged by gay marriage. That's all they can do. BTW, quoting scripture is not valid argumentation. So go and thump your Gud Book elsewhere.

Debby, that growing silence is probably the only answer we'll see. I'm not surprised...

I'm not really in for a debate, but since you both asked for another opinion:

Here is something that might interest you both. It's long but not as long as it appears, LOL, as there are comments after.

I hope you find it useful.

A favorite quote from the article bignosemousie referenced:

But as G.K. Chesterton points out, people who don't see the use of a social institution are the last people who should be allowed to reform it.

Thanks for the article. And it's not as long as it seems, thank goodness (I was worried as I saw my scroll bar get shorter and shorter!)

A good part of the article dealt with the complexity of the interaction of marriage to society and the problems that have emerged over time in societies regarding changing mores and social customs. All ligitimate concerns that have or should be looked at.

A fundamental change that must be considered is that we no longer consider homosexuality to be an aberration. Admittedly, there is a large faction of people who still do and for these people the denial of the right of marriage may seem justified. We routinely deny rights to people wh...

Thanks for the link BNM, it's nice to see a chicki grow a set

Marrigae matters! It is better for the kids; it is better for the adults raising those
kids; and it is better for the childless people in the communities
where those kids and adults live. Marriage reduces poverty, improves
kids outcomes in all measurable ways, makes men live longer and both
spouses happier. Marriage, it turns out, is an incredibly important
institution
I agree! And you know what? I'm happy that I have a partner in life who trys to understand me and loves me for all my faults and all my weaknesses and all my goodness Now he happens to be a man. And since everyone knows on CM that I ...
