Wonderful. I like that.. I don't entirely trust Joseph Campbell anymore. I've read comments that he's made based upon an adaptation of Chief Seattle's "infamous" speech which was taken up by environmentalists in the 60's and rewriten with false context. Any native american scholar should have been able to recogonize the problems with the popularizeed version (for instance: it talk's about Seattle's people being saddened by the slaughter of the bison when in reality, he and his people lived in the north western part of the U.S., they likely never saw a bison in their lifes). |
