The Claddagh rings legend comes from a story about a fisherman Richard Joyce from a village called "Claddagh" on the west coast of Ireland. He was captured by pirates and sold into slavery to a Moorish goldsmith where we learnt the trade. Many years later when freed he returned to "Claddagh", to marry his childhood sweetheart and started manufacturing Claddagh Rings. As Irish people started to travel the world, so the legend of Claddagh rings spread.

If the wedding is tied to the ring, yes. I can remove my ring(I am a mechanic) but it doesn't mean I'm not married. If you place the value of your marriage in an article like a ring or a document, what does that say about your love?
I have a wedding ring and so does my wife. We have them because we thought they were important to our marriage when we tied the knot. As time went by we have lost or destroyed them multiple times. This last set cost $58 at a pawn shop. Our wedding certificate and rings are just reminders. The real marriage is in our love for each other and you can have the rings if you want them. It won't affect our marriage.

I understand, while the ring I clipped is very pretty I don't think I would want to spend so much on one. I love the concept of it and I have one now, I wear it everyday. It very plain to stones or anything on it. The wedding ring clipped is just a very extravagant version of what I want.

I agree and I think the 2nd and 3rd one are by far too pretty to wear everyday, they would get ruined and lost but the last one is nice, except it would get dirty easily too.
