jatfla says: Most people know this. I'm still a bit puzzled. This seems to suggest that global warming IS taking place (naturally) but some scientists say that the planet is colder now. I have read about this on clipmarks. If there is agreement that there is climate change going on (what ever is causing it) shouldn't someone be talking about what the effects may be and what those who understand about these things think should be done about it? Just a thought. I would like to know how this scientist defends his argument. He can't be claiming that carbon dioxide is not a greenhouse gas - it is too simple to prove that it is. He can't be claiming that humans are not responsible for the measured increase in carbon dioxide, because if you count up the CO2 that humans create it is clear that we are. Is he claiming that there is a natural process that is saving us from CO2 derived global warming at the same time that something else is creating natural global warming?!?!?!? abailart: It is generally accepted that global warming is taking place on the long term. Short term variations in certain parts of the world like a cold winter doesn't change the long term trend - you have to look at the entire globe over a few years. Smokefoot, Most CO2 occurs naturally and is not caused by man. The natural variation of CO2 alone dwarfs what man contributes. For example man could cut CO2 by 100% and natural variation could increase by about 2% and the effect would be about even. Second, a vast majority of greenhouse gas is water vapor which comes from the oceans. Third, other sources that drive climate on earth are solar cycles, astronomical influences, geological (tectonic) influences, and ocean currents. Fourth, he is not saying CO2 is not a greenhouse gas. Fifth, You say it is generally accepted that gw is going on long term. How do you justify that comment? If you say it has been warming for the past 100 years... ... I love the fact that alarmists will explain these observations in the Solar System as the result of natural causes. Irony? very relevant thought abailart. Willhelm, You make a list of things and offer not a link, not a shred of evidence for a single one. You're right, yance. I did not. The saddest thing is that it would not matter if I did. Watch this short video and if you are still interested I will be willing to discuss further. Or, you can read all my clips on the matter. |
