RecordSage says: Tall order, but apparently Google is moving in that direction. Bill may have to come out of his retirement... Same here. Not to dis Firefox, but this is going to be a contender, especially when one reads about the architecture and future plans. MS needs to get its act together, they certainly have resources, they just don't seem to have the vision down and Google keeps constantly nailing it, showing to everyone that it exists. Exactly how will a browser kill windows? Can you boot directly into the browser with no OS? Will you be able to run Photoshop inside your broswer (the real thing, not that little online app)? Will you be able to play WoW (or WAR or Second Life or Hello Kitty Online....) right out of your browser? I mean, I like ambition and all, and I would love to see a viable OS that doesn't force me to buy certain overpriced computers, but claiming a browser could kill an OS is like claiming you have created a new windshield that will make automobiles obsolete. If you look at thin clients, you know they can boot off the network. Now if you can have enough 'smarts' to just run this browser and the apps you're looking for can be run in it - you may have something. Who uses Photoshop? Seriously, that's a poor example in terms of mass use. That's it - you're set. Part of the problem before was always the brain-numbing lack of speed, due to client/server environment. That'll remain, but with broadband, a browser of this efficiency and Ajax - spee... Well, clipmarks here seems to work faster on Chrome than it does on FF. I'll keep it to browse since clipmarks doesn't have any Ads yet, but I'm not using Chrome until I see an Adblocker. ok arifsali, we'll pass this to Sergey & Larry for consideration |
