Why is that scary? People should read it and understand it. One can not reject what one does not understand, at least not in good conscience. I read the book and while I don't agree with the dystopian view of the future Revolution (lets face it all utopias are dystopias), he did introduce new ways of looking at history and pointed to the weakness of laizze-affair capitalism. In many ways Marx hated capitalism and ended up saving it.

I'm not fond of the de-personalization that happens in socialism's "all for the state" utopia or capitalism's "all for the capitalist" one.

Both are dreadfully small visions of the value of individuals; both are inadequate - in themselves alone - to produce justice.

There really is little difference between capitalism and socialism in their fully-unleashed forms, at least to the average citizen. There's only a nominal difference in masters. Ask yourself how much difference there is between a society in which the state controls all corporate entities or the corporate entities own the state.
