Is there no doubt that this is about the ultimate control of women?

The community decided that it was not useful, that women were not getting anything out of it,
HA!! I am pretty sure this practice isn't for the woman's benefit. It is about controlling women, right on Debby!

I agree with all your comments the only thing I'm having a problem with is that the UN has called for a major reduction in the practice by 2015. That's a lot of years and how many little girls are going to die and be mutilated over these years. I think they should do more and much sooner.

I mean it just goes to the core of a woman's ability to enjoy sexual relations and to have a mutually gratifying and rewarding relationship with their partner. What man on the face of the EARTH wouldn't want that for their partner? Is the fear of enjoying sex with another person so very strong that one would perform such a barbaric practice?? Why would any man want to ever take away the pleasure for the woman? Isn't THAT part of the reason, a very BIG part of the reason for making love? And I am speaking of making love here, not just having gratuitous sex. It's absolutely horrifying to me. And to do it to little girls, to do it as custom, before they become young women, before they kn...

Circumcision of newborn boys also fall into the same category (although not as brutal, for it does not deny them having normal sexual relations (but in my opinion brutal for it is done without their consent).
Is there any benefit to it? Nature and evolution decided that part to be of benefit to a male and someone decided to remove it as a ritual to please some sadistic deity (which is immune to pleasures anyway). Let it be the decision of the concerned man (or woman) when he/she is able to make sane decisions for him(her)self.

there is a major difference between the two. the males one does not harm their sexual pleasure yes it is old ritual but basically it used to be healthier to do it, less infections. whilst the womans procedure is aimed only out of ignornce and fear and it does affect their pleasure not to mention that the way it is performed is actually a life threatening.

First let me make this thing clear that I am not in favor of female clitoral circumcision.
With that out of the way, lets proceed. Yes male circumcision does not decrease his sexual pleasure, but it still is painful, it still results in complications, infections, leaves the male child not fully functional etc. It is done without the consent of the victim (its his body after all, who are parents to make decisions about removing some of its parts). And as far as the surgical performance is concerned, hospitals and trained surgeons are not available everywhere. In some parts of the world barbers perform the act with tools that are fear inspiring. If one is is bad, its bad for everyone and in al...
