Unfortunately, many adult humans died, intellectually speaking, many years ago. They haven't had a new thought in decades (and don't want to) and find any thing that challenges their extinct reasoning ability to be anathema. They also find those with live brains quite threatening, therefore the statement about religion and scence. It's all about comfort levels. That's why they are so attached to "gut instinct". They are making it very clear that they don't use their brains to make decisions. This may be why there are so many commercials and products for elimination aid.
