The murder of Meredith Kercher
She was discovered on 2 November 2007 in Perugia, Italy. The 21 year-old English student was found in her bedroom at the cottage that she shared with other students, her windpipe crushed and her throat partially slashed.

After the murder the police arrested four suspects, including Kercher's American flatmate, Amanda Knox. One man was later released without charges. The remaining three suspects were held in custody in Perugia for one year prior to facing trial charged with murder, sexual assault and theft.

On October 28, 2008, Rudy Hermann Guede was convicted of murder in a "fast-track" trial and sentenced to 30 years in prison. The trial of Ama...
