This year, for the first time, Arctic scientists are preparing for that possibility.</p> <P>"The set-up for this summer is disturbing," says <A target="ns" href="http://cires.colorado.edu/people/serreze/">Mark Serreze</A>, of the US National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC).
