This should be preventable! The elderly especially can have some problems regulating and sensing their body temperature. They do not always feel when they get too hot like we do and many overdress without even knowing it. I have seen old ladies wearing jackets or coats even when it's scorching hot! Also they often forget to drink, so dehydration does it's bit too. It's not easy growing old. Circulation problems can cause the body to feel chilly, even when it's hot out. It's a common phenomenon in cancer patients and patient undergoing dialysis. That's probably the case in some elderly. I meant to say that circulation problems are common in the elderly. Plus, it's tough to pay a $200/month electric bill on Social Security. Cold weather kills more people than hot weather. USUALLY NOT IN CALIFORNIA. Not in Austrailia or Florida either.. good grief !! Here's something to chew on. |
