Recently they found that most of those benefits are not so much due to water itself, but due to any liquids (obviously not applicable to certain of the above). The idea of needing 8 glasses a day has been debunked; your body will extract water from any liquid you drink, but avoiding drinks high in calories or chemicals of dubious use to the body (like caffiene) is a good idea.

Actually, there is one thing better than water; Tea. Not only does it have the benefits of water, but it's also an antioxidant, plus whatever positive elements are specific to the particular brand of tea.
