My daughter just studied Van Gogh's Starry Night in art class and the teacher asked every student to draw their own version of Starry Night. Her picture is wonderful; I might frame it.

Post it mousie. I'd like to know her perception.

But doesn't it seem strange that one so young would be asked to analyze such a complicated artist?

By the way...he was one of my Father's favorite. Genius is often border-line troubled. Do you think so?

I don't think my scanner is big enough to get the whole image, but I could take a photo of it. The painting really resonated with my daughter. She checked out a book about the painting from the library all on her own.

I think the line between genius and madness is very very thin.

Make sure to use rag mats (i assume it's important to you) or have a spacer at least. You don't want the glass on the picture. Not acid free, which is still wood pulp and will turn acidic again. Not to mention that your mat will fade and change colour.
I love that song, i never realized it was for Van Goh! Now that man had talent. I have a calender of his paintings on my wall right now.
I agree Mousie, about the thin line...

Beautiful song and remarkable video of Van Gogh paintings. Speaking of genius, has anyone seen "The Soloist" The acting was really fantastic..... I think both Robert Downey Jr and Jamie Foxx got nominated.

The new Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam is absolutely beautiful. But I was fortunate enough to see the first Van Gogh museum back in the 70's, a small, somewhat broken down building setting on a street corner in an older part of the city. No security guards or camera's, I had been through 3 rooms before I even saw another person. I say I was fortunate because that building spoke of who he was before he died. The new museum, speaks of what he has become to others since he's been dead. It gives him the recognition he tried so hard to achieve. I can't help but feel that the real tragedy of his life was that he never knew how famous he would become. We should never put off telling those we love how special they are to us.

Lollipop, thanks for the mounting tips.

Merrie, I haven't seen The Soloist, but it is on my Netflix list.

Chestnut, seeing the art in person is always so much more moving. Most real artists are tortured in their mind, sadly. It's a double-edged sword; without the madness would the art be as engaging?

Beautiful art and love the song.

"Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well."

"What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?"

"One must work and dare if one really wants to live."

"The more I think about it, the more I realize there is nothing more artistic that to love others."

As long as I can remember there has always been a reproduction of Van Gogh's Sunflowers painting hanging in my parent's home. Mom is an artist and art teacher with impeccable taste.

Frame your daughter's picture Mousie.

Bobby, thanks for the link. I got the frame, and as soon as I fix it (one corner is wonky) it is going on the wall.
