The arguments of the Left cannot stand up to scrutiny of a three-hour-a-day program. Dialog can only occur where there is rational expression and valid theses. 3 hours of Bush bashing doesn't work. This is the reason the Right are so much more eloquent in the defense of their ideas while the Left bashes. We understand the issues. I would love to see Left wing radio be successful. It would be good for discourse. However, they would have to learn the successful approach from Limbaugh, Beck, and Hannity and understand it is a business. Radio is a competitive forum, not a free ride like they have at NPR. The Left is afraid of them because they reflect some common sense into the ocean of opinions and ideas that flood our brains everyday. How many of us have heard one of them defend an idea or principle and thought, that's right! That is what I was trying to say. And they fear them because a large majority of the population *want* to hear them. Many are weary to death and yes, even afraid of the influence that the liberals have had on the culture and arena of ideas for over 40 yrs. The very news today reflects the disasters that influence has wrought; as all the while they try to blame the current Administration for it all. And they fear them because a large majority of the population *want* to hear them.Good point, Jatfla. However, I think they fear them because they stand in stark contrast to them. When you listen to the likes of Glenn Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, Dennis Prager, Phil Valentine, Michael Smirkonish, Dave Glover, Liddy, William Bennett, and others you do not hear hate rhetoric. You hear rational, intellectual, heartfelt commentary and the people accross the country are included in the dialogue. That is what they hate. They thrive on divisiveness. (just check out the constant lies on liberal blogs about these people. It is sickening.) They also hat them because it is the only... I 'hate' them because i think they are largely responsible for flaming the bitter, divisive, angry tone in politics. They promote an "us versus them" mentality, with "us" being conservative republicans and "them" being liberal democrats. I'm 'scared' of them because they do the above very well. They make a lot of money and they have a lot of influence. Even if they are right (correct) as many believe, they promote such hostility amongst people of different points of view. As I've said and hopefully proven many times on this site, i have no problem with people expressing different points of view. I have no problem being proven wrong. I just have a serious problem with the hostile ... Yes, EG . I do you see your point as it regards to someone like Michael Savage. However, he is the exception and not the rule. The discourse on talk radio is not how you describe it. It doesn't come anywhere near the level of hatred that exists on Liberal blogs. The divisiveness in politics is not a new phenomenon. It has been going on since before the founding of the country and in some regards was much worse in the past. The criticism of the discourse on talk radio is quite selective when you consider that those in talk radio are held accountable for every word they say and that is a good thing. But to "hate" them is to BE what you say you hate. You , yourself clipped a video once from ... I honestly don't know much about Michael Savage. Every so often i drive to work and listen to talk radio on the way home. One guy, i believe named Mark Levin is so mean and rude...he just epitomizes the negative bashing that i despise. Laura Ingram is another (though not as bad as Mark Levin). I don't disagree with you at all about Liberal media doing the same (though they're not any where near as good at it). I can't stand it. For whatever reason, it just seems to me that much of the horrible tone that is now so commonplace in the media originated with the like so of Rush and Fox News. I really might be wrong about that, but that has been my observation. |
