I wish I could feel as confident as you feel. No one may want to go but may have little option. The nearer to 2009, the less his power so it's likely it will be sooner rather than later. There are lots of favours, protections, jobs, deals in his gift. Just like a Mafia don, he knows how to use them all. He's is part desperate now so nothing can be discarded.

The best chance is like what Australia has done. Discount the option before being asked. It gives the others backbone and makes it difficult to be 'reversed'.

The Ausies aren't the only ones pulling out. The Brits just said their getting more of their troops home.

If this keeps up, Bush will have to send Ann Coulter, Rush Limbough, And Bill O Really. They could be called the Devil Dogs.

Almost every Muslim in the Middle East believes the West is on yet another infidel Crusade, one to take over their Holy Land and their oil assets. To them, democracy is a smokescreen masking this real intent.

There is therefore absolutely no way known to man that the West will convince the fanatics otherwise. To believe we can "win" there - as does George Bush - short of all-out WWIII, is to believe in fairies at the bottom of the garden.

And winning, like beauty, is in the eye and mind of the beholder.
