n2sooners says: Wow, think I will be a lot more careful with my CFL bulbs in the future. Just wonder what to do when the time comes to replace them. I definitely won't be putting them in a location where they are likely to be broken. This really makes the movement to outlaw incandescent bulbs in some countries look even more insane. WOW. Talk about irony! The good news (hopefully) is that super bright LED lighting is starting to take off. They don't break as easy and to my knowledge have no hazards associated with them. O.K WHY aren't the environmentalists POPPING this clip? Mercury is one of the worst poisons out there. Also one would think that TV would have this blaring all over the place. Oh, wait. That's bad for green business. Here's a better link with the full story. http://ellsworthmaine.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=7446&Itemid=31 I was going to search this story out and clip it. I might have figured it had already been clipped. This is one of the funniest things I've heard. Breaking a light bulb is now an environmental catastrophe. This reminds me of the DHT issue in Africa. Thousands were killed because of alarm-ism and environmental policies. Oh well, the do-gooders tried to be helpful. Too bad the results of their actions are not weighed as heavily as their intentions. Stop spreading misinformation http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/cfl.asp http://www.maine.gov/dep/rwm/homeowner/pdf/prospecthistory.pdf Thanks for the Snopes link, chancefavors. I saw *some* mis-information debunked by either the Snopes link OR the maine.gov one. If anything, the PDF from the Maine.gov link provided evidence that broken CFL's do pose a hazard (albeit small) in the immediate area of a broken CFL bulb. If you also read the PDF, the end states that the Maine gov is launching a controlled break study to determine safe and inexpensive ways to clean up broken CFL bulbs. If it wasn't that big of a deal, they wouldn't be bothering with a study. The REAL Napster, you're. LED is the a better alternative. n2sooners, i like your headline. I Vote for LED lamps |
