In an interview with Alaska Business Monthly shortly after she took office in 2007, Palin was asked about the upcoming surge. She said she hadn't thought about it. "I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq," she said.

“I'm here to find out what Alaskans need of me as their governor.”

I'm no fan of Palin,McCain,Obama or Biden.
In Governor Palin's defense as a newly elected governor in 2007 she should be focusing on just what she says she is focusing on-the needs of Alaskans. NOT on foreign affairs except as they effect Alaskans. (As reflected in her comment about keeping the troops safe.)
