But some snails carry a kind of flatworm parasite called <STRONG><A target="_blank" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schistosoma">schistosoma</A></STRONG>. The parasite causes schistosomiasis, the second most widespread tropical disease after malaria.
