Some would be more apt to take advantage in a freer society.

It would be more affordable to live if we socialize health care, at least a little! I live in NYC. Manhattan has such high rents it's unreal. I live smack in the middle of Chelsea. If I had kids, I wouldn't be able to live here. Not for a second. It used to be that your rent was supposed to be a quarter of your paycheck. That's how you knew what you could afford. Not anymore!

Right you are - and if I'm not mistaken, poverty levels were calculated decades ago based on food costs. But food costs have gone down and housing costs have gone way up. So the poverty levels supply less livable income than they did.

What happened to the American Dream? What happened to a person being able to feed, house and provide for their entire family off the income of one fulltime job? Why are people letting the rich scoundrels steal the American Dream from them, with their underpayment of taxes, blocks against minimum wage reform and stripping workers' rights from everyday Americans?

Because the owner class protects the populous from evil with the war on Communism, the war on terror, the war on drugs, and the war on crime.
