Kauaiguy says: During my brief subscription to HBO, I watched Bill Maher. For all his liberal bent, I believe he's come to the same conclusion about the "question of woman" as Nietzsche.. hahahahahahahahahaha, poor men huh? I feel downright sorry for the downtrodden little alleycats. Listen, I luv Bill Maher but sometimes he brings his own immature opinions about marriage to his comedy in the most sarcastic, hateful ways. So he spends his days fucking at the playboy mansion; who cares? He sounds like a whiny little high school boy who never grew up and is complaining that "this old gang of mine" is splitting up over something as silly as love and women for God's sake! Fortunately, I'll never believe this is the mindset of most happily married men. But hey, Bill still makes me laugh and thank God for the comedians of this world! They make life bearable. I'm 55, never married.. I knew only one man in my father's generation who had never married. At my last place of employment, we had 28 employees, 6 of whom had never married. Do the math, that's over 20%. I retired at 50.. Now, all my friends are either divorced or perpetually single. I've had married friends but invariably they're either too busy to come out and play or the wife feels threatened .... or she starts confiding her husbands inadequacies and looking for an affair. Well, I'll agree that marriage is a grim statistic anymore, but most men I know who have been married and were either divorced or widowed couldn't wait to get married again. I guess it can't be that bad for those willing to take the plunge again. |
