Surprised? I'm not in the least. Riling up the "base" is what they do the best and it has become crystal clear that the base if increasingly racist. Of course, they'd deny it.

Conservatism as it is seen today. I wish it were an effective counter to the excesses of the other side but it is so mired in its own muck and delusions that it is useless.

Much like the religion that finds its way to conservatism, the entire political stance uses fear and intolerance to whip its public into uniformity.

At least most of the coverage of these fringe clowns as been one of ridicule and scorn. That is exactly what they deserve. Of more concern to me are the multitude of bigots that still exist and continue to pass on this vile hate to their offspring. We haven't see the last of this yet.
