It is frustrating that Obama believes he has to take this position for political reasons. I know he does not believe this is the correct course in his heart of hearts.

Do gooders won't hear of it. They will push the line that the smoking damages the lungs (while their partner's company sends miners underground in some South American country).
They are working on alcohol now that they have rid the Western countries of tobacco (all the crappy stuff is still sent to Asia by partner's cargo company).
Gone from 2 days off it to two drinks a day for men and women makes you a mild alcoholic.
No the do gooders will share the powder while working out how to make the slave class work longer and need less money.

That comment wasn't so mellow. People who have to live behind big stone fences and tell others how to run their lives, upset me. They don't even know the real story. They just take the Mother Theresa line that suffering is the way to heaven ( but they don't need the suffering because darling...
Wish I had a smoke.

Did anyone actually expect Obama to pay attention to the things the American people put on their list unless they were on his list first? Of course not, he's a worthless politician just like the rest of them. He's going to play it safe and do what ever continues to make him popular. GW may have been an idiot but at least the guy had his own opinions and convictions about things. Obama's convictions lie with whatever topics keep his numbers up (Like "saving" all these worthless money pits called companies by spending our grand kids' money). This topic will probably never get quite that high on the list until late in his (god forbid) second term. because although it was tops on the WH2 website...

Money talks and the cost impact on users and the penal system is devastating. In addressing health care reform, there may be a window of opportunity to start the conversation. Medicinal marijuana will be the first acceptable pivot point in public, gov't and medical opinion regarding cannabis. In fact, deferring to state law rather than federal control has broken through the wall and the issue is gaining in attention that should lead to new research which has been lagging for years.
