The supposed point to the Anti-Establishment Clause is to keep religion at the edges of American society as a mitigating influence. One does not have to listen too carefully to see a desire for rigid authoritarianism here that is every bit as pervasive as anything in the Middle East. Now these folks use our lamentable ignorance of our own history to suggest the "Framers" were Calvinist zealots.
