Aribeth says: Scientists have split the atom, put men on the moon and discovered the DNA of which we are made, but there are 10 key mysteries of human behaviour which they have failed to fully explain. The New Scientist magazine compiled a list of the everyday aspects of life which continue to confound the world's greatest brains, including the reasons behind kissing, blushing and even picking your nose. Perhaps the reason "Science" (with a capital "S") can't "explain" altruism points to the ideological basis of scientism? Any way, if Science is so great why hasn't it found a cure for Love? There has been some research about altruism. You can hear a good scientific discussion on this epp of the "this week in science" radio show ( http://www.twis.org/2006_11_07_science_news.html ) One example is that Altruism may make you more attractive to prospective mates ( http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/10/081014134027.htm ) thx for the links! |
