Geez, Invictus, You got any good news?

I read an article on how much water wasted on watering lawns, and ways to cut down on this. The resurgence of astroturf for example.

When I lived in California, my partner was horrified at how much water was used to keep patches of lawn green in an environment where everything fries to a brown crisp in the summer.

The biofuel industry is also to blame for our food worries. Says some.

It is causing a tortilla crisis as stated in a recent article at bbc.co.uk

Hey skwirl, Congrats on recently surpassing 10,000 - TEN THOUSAND ! - comments. Now that is engaged. I've enjoyed reading a good many of them. Looking forward to the next 10,000.

Oh no, Skwirl!!! Skwirl/Clipmarks, Clipmarks/Skwirl - they are synonymous. They go together like tea and crumpets. You are the one most consistent, dependable, recognisable, unique personality on Clipmarks - our Skwirl who loves squirrels, dogs and planets. I can't imagine Clipmarks without you. I just recently d/l Soylent Green and the Omega Man as well as multiple other classics. Back when Heston died.
I'm a fan of dystopian science fiction.

Our world is fast becoming a dystopian science fiction.
Who would have thunk it back when I was growing up in the 60's that the generations of Love, Peace and Drugs would create a world as far from their utopia as this one?

Likewise, Skwirl, a "Clipmarks without Skwirlinator" idea sounds very dystopian to many of us, you should consider this.

I know, I have not been a good clipper recently, as I used to be and I can spend significantly less time here, when compared to good old 2006 and the first half of 2007. But at least I know this: When I come and find comfort at Clipmarks environment, I find a bunch of veteran friends here, who has made the Clipmarks experiment a unique one. You are definitely one of them.

I respect your decisions for sure. But come to think of it again and let's keep such "dystopian moves" out of here, my friend. You know, we still miss Guillaume and we don't like the idea of "missing Skwirl" too.

I happen to believe that most of these problems have technological and information-based solutions. In fact, I believe that the Internet and things like Clipmarks are the answer here. "Appropriate Technology" is a term usually associated with tree-hugger who would prefer to let humans die off rather than sacrifice a pristine rain-forest.

Me, I think it intellectually lazy to sacrifice either for the other.
