bookchick49 says: I joined this community last week and have been impressed with their "community" effort. I'm not certain if blogs inside the Vox community are searchable from the outside but it doesn't seem to matter. While "exploring" the community blogs, I've noted a number of people commenting on the maturity level as "better than MySpace." Some people have commented that it's a pleasure to be in a relaxed environment with a "friendly and mature neighborhood" format where no one knows you from some other place. LOL Another comment I read was that it's like "Flickr with a blog." The latter comment was something I could relate to as well. It has some cool features; many themes; and like CM's, they are in alpha-beta mode, utilizing the suggestions of their customer base to improve upon the product and features. You need an invitation to join. You can put your name on their mailing list for an invite and they'll contact you soon. It took me a month to receive my invite. Later neighbor! Have still been tooling around in Vox with my blog. Not a bad place but if you like to hard code..... it's very limited. It's designed as a wysiwyg with the ability to utilize a few basic html codes. There is no section for "My Favorite Links" but is replaced with "My Pictures" if you like. You have the option to choose what you'd like to have displayed on your main page but "linkage" is not one of them. There is an RSS feed option; the ability to upload videos, photos, books, music; and connect with people (neighbors). There are a few other perks that the Six Apart team are always adding. If you're interested in an invitation, let me know. I have a couple to share directly. Just email me - find it in my profile here. I actually thought this is the blog which could be private (not accessible URL until given permission) but it isn't private in a sense that anyone can reach the site if you have the URL. Arifsali, As it is currently, you can or should be able to view blogs inside this Vox "neighborhood." However, there are privacy options. One of them being that you can set "any" of your posts to private, or viewable by friends and family, friends, or family. You can also set up a default so you don't always have to change this setting for every post. Is your blog viewable to the public? Absolutely. They are chain linked (for a better analogy) to Google. Go ahead and google my username and then look for the Vox blog affiliation. You should see my blog posts and be able to click on the provided link. If you'd like my username so you can check it out, please email me. You'll find my... I'm still playing around with it. Though it seems to be evolving OK, I'm still a LiveJournal girl. |
