But it is really really hard to have much hope when one looks at the big picture. I have personally spent quite a few years helping with international aid groups and have witnessed too much horror. I would like to think that as a species we might learn from past horrors, but such is not the case. There have been unbelievable masacres both before and since Rwanda. And still the inhuman slaughter goes on.. As I sit here typing this diatribe, women and children are being raped and slaughtered in Darfur and only lip service is being paid to their plight.

Sorry about that. I just could not stop the words from flowing. We really do need to hear the stories of the relative few who are helped otherwise we would crumble into a heap of despair and not be able to function, let alone do our own little bit to help this become a better world.
