In higher education, one of the most frequently used assessments of professors performance as instructors is some form of self report <STRONG><EM>evaluation</EM></STRONG> completed by the students asking for their opinion as to the value of their experience in a professors class and their satisfaction in general with that professor (Cashin, 1989). Many universities and colleges, for example, use the IDEA <STRONG><EM>evaluation</EM></STRONG> system (Cashin, 1989). This system defines effective teaching in terms of progress toward objectives the faculty select as particularly pertinent to their teaching of a specific course.
