Domenici came into the senate when the shift that lead towards the Republican party was happening.

There has been some commentary that Bill Richardson should abandon his quest for the White House and run for Senate from New Mexico. Very popular in New Mexico he would be expected to win, thus wrangling away another seat from the Republicans.

However, on the Sunday morning talk shows he said he wasn't running for Senate.

Any feelings or thoughts about this.

Yes, if we were a rational, thoughtful electorate, we would probably elect Bill Richardson to be our next president.

He is very popular in New Mexico, but it is because he has the knack for building consensus, and we desperately need a consensus building president in the USA.

It is true also that he really is the go-to man for many ongoing international diplomacy efforts.
