Funny. As a consumer I had no idea the Peppers had made such an album.

Can you copyright a single word? I would think it's all free press.

The should be paying showtime for advertizing their album for them.

No, you can't copyright a word... even a made-up word. But, you can make a trademark claim, as the 'Peppers are doing. I'd tend to side with the TV developers, except that they named one of the show's characters after another 'Peppers tune! Dani California!

Did they really name a character Dani California?! That's a deal breaker.

When I first heard the title of the show, it was so blatant I just assumed some kind of arrangement had been made.
Californication peaked at #3, the Chili Peppers' most commercially successful album to date, selling more than fifteen million copies worldwide. The album's lyrics were derived from Anthony Kiedis' ideas, outlooks, and perceptions of life and its meaning. "Californication" was intended to represent Californian lifestyles, and more specifically, the "fake" nature which is associated with much of Hollywood.
