zenu1luv says: This made me stop and think. Wow!! powerful I "stand in awe" of this image. Mega Scales are humbling. Look at the sizes of stars compared to the earth. Look at the sizes of stars compared to the sun. Carl Sagan made a lot of people think about science. If you have not done so - watch Cosmos "Oh, what is man that You are mindful of him?" from The Book of Psalms. The size of the earth can be measured. The reason we can be in awe, is the size of our imaginations. Our Brains may be 2-3k, and 80% water, but with it we can try and imagine the universe, and consider the understanding of the universe to be a secret that can be unveiled. puts things into perspective , doesn't it? The description in the clip is great and awesome. This clip reminded me with an earlier clip (Size of the world) which shows you the sun itself as a dot compared to other stars. " What i see in Nature is a magnificent structure that we can comprehend only very imperfectly, and that must fill a thinking person with a feeling of humility. This is a genuinely religious feeling that has nothing to do with God. Therefore i can consider myself a deeply religious nonbeliever ... " (Albert Einstein) the Right perspective is always humbling ...... I did not get it, When you move away and look back you will always see the things you loved, hate and lived smaller and smaller, but It is you who gave these things the meaneing and value. Although this picture may shows how tiny is our world might be from far far away, It shows how big the human race is and it shows that the value is in the soul not in the material. wow that is very humbling, perhaps were all part of some giant sneeze pokkets wrote: "The size of the earth can be measured. There are no words to express how i felt when i saw this image. Speaking only for myself, i see our planet as HUGE; a universe within itself. As i see our planet surrounded by so much universe, so much of the unknown, my imagination just can't adequately embrace the reality that is shown in this image. I do believe The Secrets of The Universe can be unveiled, but i also know that The Universe can choose to... syncopath stated: "the Right perspective is always humbling ...... " I liked your Einstein quote, too. It is humbling. It also is quite the reflection of our physical existence. I want to be like our planet, i want to shine in my universe. pukkap commented: "wow that is very humbling, perhaps were all part of some giant sneeze" Wow! Who/What do you think sneezed? very strong words right there. and it makes you really think about life as a whole Zenu, if you'd read all of the "hitchhiker's Guide" books, you'd know it was the Great Green Arkleseizure. We are part of the universe trying to figure itself out and it's always expanding : ) Hey Jorjor - is "Hitchhiker" a better read than a movie? I could not get into that flik at all. ladalooop88845: i've had this image on my mind since i've posted it. almost 2 years ago i became very ill, and even today, i'm still healing. I may never be able to work again. But the good thing about all of that is i've found that life loves me, and i love life. There is nothing that doesn't hold some kind of meaning to me. So yeah, this image kinda stopped me in my tracks. Just like skwirlinator said, i'm trying to figure things out in my universe. sidegik commented: "and it's always expanding : ) " Just like life. it's never stagnant, always growing, always something new to discover. I heard a song, and all the chorus is: "I'm alive! I'm alive! I'm alive! I'm alive! I'm alive! I'm alive!" That's a song worth singing! zenu1luv, the movie wasn't as good as the BBC TV series version, which was almost as good as the books, but the best was the version that started it all, the BBC radio dramatization. someone should show this to the so called leaders that are sure to kill us off.........how very little we have learned... even though some are very wise Our so-called leaders only see what they want to see. Kinda pitiful. Thanks, Jorjor. I'm gonna try to find the bbc radio series to listen to. Amazon has three used copies. Go to Amazon and search on Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (audio). Thanks Jorjor! As it happens, Amazon loves having me buy things from them! |
