einbar says: if you are confident that aging will not ravage your memory, you are more likely to perform well on memory-related tasks Self doubt is harmful in so many ways. Self respect overcomes that chestnut. And self respect comes from respecting others. Mind you, we all have our self doubts, because we know we can't be perfect. My favourite hobby watching people "handle" theirs. I am 64, have a full time job that I will keep hopefully till I am 80. I agree its all in the mind, keep busy, laugh a lot and you will enjoy life till the end! I just turned 70 and I was determined not to fall prey to "old age". Nevertheless, my memory has faded especially in not remembering names. It could be because I am retired and not exposed to as many new names as I did when I was working. Some things start deterioating no matter how hard you fight against it. The real secret, to me, is to adapt and learn to enjoy life whatever stage or condition you are in with a good attitude. I am truly enjoying my "old age" and retirement. I found that just being "in the moment" has helped my memory a great deal. I guess I can't remember what I never paid attention to in the first place. This clip gives me hope that I can hang on to the few marbles I have left. Another great clip, Einbar. Thank you! Good to know this. |
